Julie studied fine arts at UMass Amherst and received her BFA in visual design from UMass Dartmouth.
Upon graduating, she worked as a graphic designer at small design firms in Boston and Los Angeles before starting Barrett Commmunications, a print and web design firm. For over 25 years, Barrett has created memorable visual solutions that capture a company or organization's essential brand message.
Julie's latest endeavor to return to painting has allowed her to integrate a more graphic style into her work while exploring the energy of color and movement in landscapes, flowers, and nature subjects.
She is actively involved with painting projects at Danforth Art Museum School and has studied at the Concord Art Association and DeCordova Museum School.
